mis raices

I am the daughter of a Spanish father and an Argentine mother. I grew up surrounded by Spanish culture at home, especially through my grandmother, Rosario, who loved sharing stories and photos of her beloved León, and my mother, Cristina, whose Galician roots have always been an important part of our family's identity.

Food has always been an important part of that connection. My father is a wonderful cook, and so was my grandmother. They have a special gift for turning just a few simple ingredients into something truly delicious — almost magical. Somehow, their cooking carries the flavours, aromas and memories of their homeland, and with every bite, it feels as if you are transported back to Spain.

When I was little, I spent many of my summers at my grandmother Rosario's home. I remember her cooking, the wonderful aromas coming from the kitchen, and the stories about her childhood in León. While she talked, she would show me old photographs of our family in Spain — pictures of her brothers, relatives and the places she had left behind.

Through her stories and those photographs, I slowly came to know my family in Spain. I could picture the places she described, imagine the people she spoke about, and feel connected with them.

I still have many of those photographs, and I love them. They are little treasures. I will be sharing some of them here on the blog. For me, they are much more than old pictures — they are a window into the people, places and memories that helped shape who I am.
